A Letter from the Superintendent

I realize as we get closer to the start of school, many questions still linger as to if and how school will be conducted in the fall. Let me assure you that we are actively developing a re-entry plan for the upcoming school year.

The West County School District is currently working with groups of stakeholders to develop these plans to provide a continuum of services for all our students this school year. In developing this plan, consideration is being given to guidelines set forth by the local health department, CDC, and state and federal leaders.

As of now, we plan on a return to school at all campuses on August 24th and will follow our official school calendar. You can find a copy of this calendar on the district website at wcr4.org. The district does realize that each student is unique and even given the measures which will be put into place, some students may not be able to return physically on campus. For those individual cases, the district will work with parents and students to meet those needs through alternative methods of instruction. Those parents need to contact the school to discuss their concerns for re-entry.

Registration for new students to the district will be August 13. Call your student’s building at 573-562-7535 to set up a time to register. Appointments can be made beginning August 1. As we navigate through these unprecedented times, please know the West Count School District will work hard to provide a safe and secure environment for your child to learn and grow.

As a community, we can and will be stronger at the end of this journey because . . . WE ARE WEST COUNTY!!!

Learning Databases Now Available

We have been working with one of our educational resource vendors and they have opened up two of their main learning databases for our students to be able to use at home! Our teachers have been working on how to utilize these databases since last Friday.

The databases are called EBSCO & LearningExpress and the login instructions can be found in our Remote Learning Resource Website (link – https://bit.ly/2xhbIAF). Parents & students can feel free to use any of the resources you find on your own, or do the lessons & activities your teachers share out. You can start using these databases today.
*Please note that teachers will be sending out any resources or activities through our Remote Learning Resource Website.

Also note that any work completed using these databases is OPTIONAL and will not impact grades.

These databases do require internet access. We will always provide printed school-work packets that can be picked up. Contact your child’s teacher if you need a packet and they will work with our Central Office team to make sure that a packet is available for pick up.

The vendor has published several online tutorials on how to use the databases and you can access them here – https://search.more.net/node/30
